Someone ask me the other day in the billycobham.com forum about some latin patterns in odd times. I'm going to recycle the answer in case someone here are interested. They sound good if you play the clave with the left foot and improvise on top. Her's the post:
OK, here we go, these are some of the patterns that i've been working on lately.
X=16th note.
0=16th note rest.
CLAVE 3/4 00X0 X000 X00X
CASCARA 3/4 X0X0 XX0X X0XX
CLAVE 5/4 00X0 X000 X00X 00X0 00X0
CASCARA 5/4 X0X0 XX0X X0XX 0X0X X0XX
CLAVE 6/4 00X0 X000 X00X 00X0 00X0 X00X
CASCARA 6/4 X0X0 XX0X X0XX 0X0X X0X0 XX0X
CLAVE 7/8 00X0 X000 X00X 00
CASCARA 7/8 X0X0 XX0X X0XX 0X
CLAAVE 11/8 00X0 X000 X00X 00X0 00X0 X0
CASCARA 11/8 X0X0 XX0X X0XX 0X0X X0XX 0X
CLAVE 13/8 00XO XOOO XOOX OOXO 00X0 X00X 00
CASCARA 13/8 X0X0 XX0X X0XX 0X0X X0X0 XX0X 0X
All these patterns are in a kind of 2/3 son form, so you may try to experiment with the other forms (3/2 and rhumba).
Those are not traditional rhythms so your variations are as valid as mine's or anybody's, feel free to create yor variations and relax, there won't be any clave inspector behind you!.
Also, Pete posted for me some samples of my plaing in that forum, Here are the links in case you want to hear them.
hope you like them.

Thanks for the patterns! I'll try these.
And awesome playing!
Especially that cuban solo with the left foot clave/BD tumbao ostinato...Wow, tricky!
Horacio is better watch behind his back!
Keep on the good work
